Q: What is Atlanta School of Photography?

Q: How do your class schedules work?

A: Classes are held at the same day and time of your choice each week for three or four weeks and lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. (i.e. a Photo 1 Monday 10 AM class will be held every Monday morning for 4 weeks).
Workshops are one-day events, and will be held and the date and time listed on the workshop description page.


Q: I only know the ON/OFF switch on my camera. Will I be ok?

A: Yes! You're in the right place! Check out our Photo 1 class and you'll know all those crazy buttons in no time.


Q: I know quite a bit about my camera and photography, I'm looking to be more awesome at photography.

A: Fantastic! Check out our intermediate and advanced classes and workshops!


Q: My trip is next week and I need help now!

A: Tutoring! One of our superhero instructors will meet with you one-on-one to teach you exactly what you need to know. We can usually cover two to three class sessions in a single hour of tutoring. You can fill out our handy sign up form here.


Q:  Where is the Atlanta School of Photography located?

A: The school is located at 1135 Sheridan Road at the corner of Cheshire Bridge Road and Sheridan behind the CITGO gas station and across from the Regions Bank. The school is located only 2 blocks south of the intersection of I-85 and Cheshire Bridge Road.


Q: Who teaches the classes?

A: The classes are taught by professional photographers eager to share their knowledge with you. Please check out our Instructors page for more info on each instructor.


Q: How do I enroll?

A: Simply choose the class you wish to take and register online or call us at the school.


Q: Do I get certified?

A: The Atlanta School of Photography does not issue any certifications or degrees, we are a community education program. However! We are very proud of the high quality level of education we provide, some of our students go on to be semi-professional and professional photographers. You do not need a degree or certification to be a professional photographer! If you're looking to expand your photography career, meet with one of our instructors for a mentorship!


Q: Where should I park when I come to class?

A: Good question! There are several options for parking. The lower lot (Sheridan side) adjacent to our building is always available but does fill quickly. Other parking is available in the upper lot (DV shop) and in the evenings, next door.

Q: Are you classes accessible to those with disabilities?

A: Most of our classes and workshops are accessible! Any classes held at our main campus or Alpharetta campus are fully accessible with a dedicated parking spots or drop off spots right at the front door. However, contact us ahead of time to be sure that the class or workshop is at our accessible campuses or to find a workable solution!


Q: What are your office hours?

A: Our office hours change depending on each class session, please call ahead of time so someone can be there at the school to greet you!


Q: What type of camera do I need to take a class?

A: Any camera that has manual controls (able to change the ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, Exposure, etc), ideally a camera with interchangeable lenses. Have a different type of camera? Give us a call! We'd be happy to make some recommendations, or we can gladly connect you with one of our instructors for one on one tutoring for your point and shoot camera. 


Q: What if I do mobile phone photography on my iPhone or Android?

A: Some of our classes and workshops are perfect for cell phone photographers, such as Composition, which is less technical, or Lightroom CC for editing. We occasionally have Mobile Phone Photography workshops as well. You can also download apps that give more manual control of your cell phone camera. Give us a call or send us an email, and we'd be happy to make some recommendations! 


Q: Do I need to have my own camera to take a class?

A: Yes, unfortunately we cannot provide cameras. Feel free to call/email us for recommendations for buying or renting.


Q: Can two people share one camera in a class?

A: Yes. However, you do need to register a space for both people separately.


Q: I’ll miss my class this week / I know I won’t be able to make one day of class. Can I sit in on another class?

A: We understand that life happens! Give us a call, and we will try to accommodate you as best as we can. However, we can't guarantee anything! Some classes are limited in size, or may be on a different learning track.


Q: Can I make up a missed class next session?

A: Unfortunately, due to fluctuating schedules and small class sizes we are not able to offer make up classes in other sessions. Should you need to miss a class, give us a call, and we will try to accommodate you as best as we can. However, we can't guarantee anything! Some classes are limited in size, or may be on a different learning track.


Q: What if I registered through CourseHorse and need to cancel?

Q: Why take a photography class?

A: Because you want to! Because it’s fun! Because it is about time you learned how to use your camera and start taking better pictures. We hope you can join us!


Q: What is the age requirement to register at ASoP?

A: We offer classes and workshops for students starting at 15 years old.
