Q: How do your class schedules work?
A: Classes are held at the same day and time of your choice each week for three or four weeks and lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. (i.e. a Photo 1 Monday 10 AM class will be held every Monday morning for 4 weeks).
Workshops are one-day events, and will be held and the date and time listed on the workshop description page.
Q: I only know the ON/OFF switch on my camera. Will I be ok?
A: Yes! You're in the right place! Check out our Photo 1 class and you'll know all those crazy buttons in no time.
Q: I know quite a bit about my camera and photography, I'm looking to be more awesome at photography.
Q: My trip is next week and I need help now!
A: Tutoring! One of our superhero instructors will meet with you one-on-one to teach you exactly what you need to know. We can usually cover two to three class sessions in a single hour of tutoring. You can fill out our handy sign up form here.
Q: Where is the Atlanta School of Photography located?
A: The school is located at 1135 Sheridan Road at the corner of Cheshire Bridge Road and Sheridan behind the CITGO gas station and across from the Regions Bank. The school is located only 2 blocks south of the intersection of I-85 and Cheshire Bridge Road.
Q: Who teaches the classes?
A: The classes are taught by professional photographers eager to share their knowledge with you. Please check out our Instructors page for more info on each instructor.
Q: How do I enroll?
A: Simply choose the class you wish to take and register online or call us at the school.
Q: Do I get certified?
A: The Atlanta School of Photography does not issue any certifications or degrees, we are a community education program. However! If you're looking to expand your photography career, meet with one of our instructors for a mentorship!
Q: Where should I park when I come to class?
A: Good question! There are several options for parking. The lower lot (Sheridan side) adjacent to our building is always available but does fill quickly. Other parking is available in the upper lot (DV shop).
Q: What are your office hours?
A: Our office hours change depending on each class session, please call ahead of time so someone can be there at the school to greet you!
Q: What type of camera do I need to take a class?
A: Any camera that has manual controls (able to change the ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, Exposure, etc), ideally a camera with interchangeable lenses. Have a different type of camera? Give us a call! We'd be happy to make some recommendations, or we can gladly connect you with one of our instructors for one on one tutoring for your point and shoot camera.
Q: What if I do cell phone photography?
A: Some of our classes and workshops are perfect for cell phone photographers, such as Composition, which is less technical. You can also download apps that give more manual control of your cell phone camera. Give us a call or send us an email, and we'd be happy to make some recommendations!
Q: Do I need to have my own camera to take a class?
A: Yes, unfortunately we cannot provide cameras. Feel free to call/email us for recommendations for buying or renting.
Q: Can two people share one camera in a class?
A: Yes. However, you do need to register a space for both people seperately.
Q: I missed my class this week. Can I come to the same class at a later time/day the same week?
A: We understand that life happens! Give us a call, and we will try to accommodate you as best as we can. However, we can't guarantee anything! Some classes are limited in size, or may be on a different learning track.
Q: Can I make up a missed class next session?
A: Unfortunately, due to fluctuating schedules and small class sizes we are not able to offer make up classes in other sessions. Should you need to miss a class, give us a call, and we will try to accommodate you as best as we can. However, we can't guarantee anything! Some classes are limited in size, or may be on a different learning track.

Q: What is the age requirement to register at ASoP?
A: We offer classes and workshops for students starting at 15 years old.
