In this workshop you will learn how to create eye catching images that will stop viewers in their tracks. A subtle shift of the eyes of the subject can change the narrative of a portrait when nothing else has been altered.
What we’ll cover:
How to take your photos from basic to breathtaking with eye contact
How to use eye contact to set the mood in a photo
Tools and tips to enhance the impact of eye contact in a photo
How lighting brings the eyes come to life
Communication techniques to draw expressive eyes from every subject
Workshop Take Aways:
Student will leave with an understanding of how to apply these key concepts to create impactful images through eye contact.
An understand of the essential tools and techniques needed to manipulate light to enhance eye contact
Proper subject positioning to enhance the eyes
Shooting with intention to achieve the appropriate mood and eye contact
Coaching, directing and body language skills to achieve the desired expression from even the most difficult subjects

About Melvina Edwards
Melvina is a professional portrait photographer based in Atlanta whose creative vision is deeply influenced by years spent as a professional dancer and choreographer. With a keen understanding of movement, expression, and the human form, she brings a unique perspective to every portrait session, capturing not just the image, but the soul of the subjects.
Melvina enjoys working with a diverse range of clients to create personalized works of art.
Recently, she was one of 28 international photographers whose work was selected for the 2024 APG Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Exhibition.
When not taking photographs, she loves going to the theater, traveling and scuba diving every chance she gets.

What do I need for this workshop?
Students are asked to bring their cameras with a portrait lens. Bring reflector kits if you own them as well.
