Film Photography 101
Then, we’ll get into the basics of photography - learn how to freeze motion for sports photography, have the perfect aperture for a portrait, and an immaculate ISO for landscapes. Know your camera better in this one day class.
This ONE-DAY experience introduces you step-by-step to an understanding of:

Controling motion with shutter speed
Getting the perfect portrait or landscape with aperture
• Quick tips for awesome composition
• And SO much more!
Allison is an educator, photographer, and Atlanta native who received her MFA in Photography from Texas Woman’s University in 2015 and BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2011.
Her personal work ranges from landscapes to portraiture to manipulated imagery, and explores themes such as man's relationship with nature, identity, and personal journeys. She has been exhibited and published nationally.
Allison believes in the infinite possibilities of photography and is excited to share her knowledge with others. When not photographing, you can find her camping, hiking, or enjoying the Atlanta art scene!
Allison's work has been featured in several national exhibitions including Slow Exposures.
This workshop is designed for photography beginners and photo enthusiasts looking to learn the basics of the art and technique of photography. The day starts at 10am and ends at 3pm, allowing for a 45 minute lunch break. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch or choose from a variety of nearby options.

We’ve combined our Intro to Film workshop and Photo 1 Express to bring you a comprehensive workshop all about photographing with film!
Learn the basics of analog photography with Allison Jarek. We’ll cover everything, from the basics of how film works, how to use a film camera, including how to load your film, and everything to get you ready to take pictures with your camera.
We’ll cover:
The basics of film and how it works
How film captures an image
How to load your camera
How to exposure properly
Using a light meter
How to safely unload
Preparing for drop off to develop your photos
We’ll provide you with 2 rolls of film, so head on over to your local thrift store or dust off that family film camera and be ready to fall in love with film photography!

There will be a 30-45 minute lunch break. Feel free to bring your own lunch, or there are restaurant options near by.
What should I bring to class?
Registered students are asked to bring their Digital SLR camera or mirrorless camera, camera manual (if you have one), memory card, fresh battery and note-taking material.
